Bacon and Cheddar Wraps
Last week I was exploring ideas for appetizers for the upcoming Thanksgiving celebration. As many of you know, Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, not because I get the opportunity to make several dishes, but also because it is a great day to hang out with family and friends.
As we went back and forth on who was going to host Thanksgiving, as well as cook, it came down to my in-laws hosting, our cousins to bring the appetizers, and for me to make the rest. But as I was exploring the idea of making appetizers, I came up with a bacon and cheddar wrapped crescent loaf, which I admit, was to die for.
While I was exploring the idea, I realized that I had a tube of my son’s favorite crescents in the refrigerator, and that sparked my idea of stuffing with 4 year old aged, sharp Wisconsin cheddar cheese, some Nueske’s apple smoked bacon, and peppadew peppers. Super simple, and super delicious, these make for a really great appetizer.
Ingredients:
- 1 can of crescent rolls, edges sealed
- 8 slices of great smoked bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 1 cup of sharp cheddar cheese, grated
- 4 peppadew peppers, chopped (optional)
- cooking spray
If you have never heard of peppadew peppers, they are basically a sweet pepper, with just a touch of heat, and in my opinion, goes great with this appetizer.
Begin by spraying cooking spray on a baking sheet, and preheating your oven to 375 degrees. Lay out the crescent rolls onto the baking sheet, and instead of rolling them up like you would normally do, piece it back together, sealing all of the edges. Lay the cheese, bacon, and peppadew peppers on the top of the dough, fold over like a loaf, making sure you completely seal all of the dough.
Place in the oven and bake for about 20 minutes. Remove, from the oven, can carefully flip it over, baking another 5-10 minutes, or until the entire loaf is a golden brown. Remove from the oven, set onto a cooling rack, and let rest for about 5 minutes before slicing into it.
Slice into about a two inch slice, and serve. Great flavors make for a really friendly, and tasty appetizer. Enjoy.

I have a tube of crescent rolls in the fridge right now and I’m thinking I need to run out for some bacon. Sounds great!
