Lettuce Wraps
We are all most likely attempting to start off the year the right way, and one of those ways is to eat more healthy. I have asked many people in the last week, and the common theme is to eat more healthier foods, eat in moderation, or somewhere in between. With that said, I am more on the eat in moderation side, but when it comes to eating healthier, I do have some nice choices around. One of those is lettuce wraps. Often times we get caught up in the idea of eating a sandwich for lunch, dinner, or on the weekend. I know it is an easy go to for me. The sandwich, for the most part, always contains two slices of bread. Well, here is an idea; replace the bread with your favorite lettuce. This is really simple to throw together and with the right ingredients, and right sauce, you are on your way to a healthier sandwich, or should I say wrap?
Ingredients:
- Your favorite lettuce (I use the inner section of romaine)
- Angel Hair pasta, cooked and cooled
- Sliced Carrots
- Sliced Cucumber
- Sliced Green Onion
- Meat (optional)
- Sauce/Dressing (optional)
Once you have all of your ingredients together, simply layer, add your sauce, or spoon as you go, fold like a taco, and go to town. Trust me on this one, these wraps leave you feeling a lot healthier than you would if you were to go for a turkey, ham, or roast beef sandwich.
Question for you… what do you put in your wrap?
